HOW I SYYLE MOM JEANS F/W EDITION

Im so excited to be doing this post. Im a 90's baby and with that era's fashion making a comeback i just have to represent. I have been eying mom jeans for about a year now. After going in and trying them a couple of times i found the perfect ones. Finding the perfect pair can be tricky especially when you are curvy the fit can go left real quick. These ones are from topshop they are a mid wash blue.

CURLY CUES(how i curl my locs)

I use perm rods to curl my locs. I haven't curled my hair since it got longer and i don't know why it took me this long because I'm in love.  I just spritz warm water infused with two of my favourite oils (Jamaican black castor oil and coconut oil) and put the rods on. I put these at night and went to bed and took them out in the morning. Now i like a tight curl pattern if you like it looser you can go ahead and use bigger rods.

BACK AT IT

Oh hey, been a minute hasn't it. I wanted to kick start re-posting with this simple and comfortable look for autumn/winter. I also finally got a camera so this was an opportunity for me to play around with it. It's still pretty warm here in Toronto for November, so I have been obsessing over this blanket scarf its enormous and really warm i just throw it on whenever i don't want to wear a coat or jacket.

Happy Friday, its finally fall and i have been so eager to wear this knit dress i got a couple of months ago. This post is really about the dress its simple and chic just how i like it.

FIGHT FAIR

While its perfectly normal to have disagreements and arguments in any relationship i think its always important for us to never go below the belt. Arguments should not be war zone and we should not be striving to win, rather it should be a constructive way in which both parties can reach an amicable resolution. Often times when we argue we say things that we cannot go back from. In that moment our"hurt" or "escalated" feelings are all that matter to us and the other person's feelings are minute. I have to admit i was always a victim of this. But then I realized that if I expect for this person to love me and for things to go back to normal 'tomorrow', it would be impossible when i have done such emotional damage to that person and to the relationship that we have. So this is to say whenever you argue remind yourself to fight fair, some things are too painful to move on from..XO

Lets be honest, its hard see your peers, friends or acquaintances  progress and not feel hot and bothered if you not yet there yourself. Don't get me wrong I'm really happy for them and wish them well but there is always a question of when will my time come? Sometimes adulthood feels like a conspiracy to kill all the dreams i had as a child. I know its never a bright idea to compare your situation to other people's but that human part of you will always surface and get the best of you. The moral of this little story is that, its ok to allow yourself to feel but also not to dwell in those feelings nor condemn yourself because things are not where you wish for them to be. Remember God cannot bring you this far only to leave you, our blessings will come at his perfect time. So stay in your lane and focus on whats going right in your life and give less/no energy to what's not going right.

Silence=Gold

Hey y'all, been a little MIA but I'm back. Today i want to talk about something that is near and dear to my heart and it is the power of silence. Often times we feel compelled to justify, respond or inject our opinions into situations. There is nothing wrong with this however sometimes we must learn to evaluate the situation and determine if it is worth addressing. 

 Let me tell you something before i turned 25 i thought my voice had to be heard regardless of what the situation was, i would just run my mouth without really taking a step back to assess. As i grew older, not only do i not have the energy to be running my mouth like I'm being paid but i also realize that I'm most cases silence speaks volumes. This is not to say that my/your voice doesn't matter because it does, i just rather use mine for good and when its neccessary. If its not worth your while nor your business then for the sake of your peace and saving your vocal cords for something of value then just keep to yourself.

STEPPING INTO FAITH

I have talked countless times on this blog about how much i love music. This song right here brings me to tears everytime i listen to it, my greatest desire in this world is to know God and have a relationship deeper than the deepest sea with him. I seek to sit and have a conversation with him. A year ago i gave my life to God and it has been the best year of my life. Never in my life have i felt such peace and joy, I'm strengthened because of his word no words can describe how content and complete i feel. HE IS FAITHFUL. This is not to say that my life is perfect i go through struggles like everyone else but knowing that he is there and that there is no problem in my life that is too great for him brings my heart complete peace.
PS i want to share a very good exercise that i do and i promise you after you see and feel how amazing God is. I saw this on Tv one spiritual/motivational speaker had the people attending do it and i followed along and by the end of it i was balling my eyes out (and no I'm not a cry baby lol). Its so simple so you clear your mind and jump up and down for about 10 seconds and then stop, close your eyes place your hand on your chest to feel your heartbeat. Thats is God working in you right there. It just a reminder of how blessed you are to be alive and how only he has breathed life into you.

Today is one of those days I'm just not feeling anything, myself, life and everything else in between. I have so much on my mind, you know when you are young you have plans to be a somewhere at a particular age and I'm not there and its frustrating my plans feel way too delayed. But hey you know what they say we plan God laughs, everything will fall in place in his time because his is perfect.

FEAR

I want to talk about something that most people experience at some point in their lives myself included. Two weeks ago i had a conversation with a friend of mine and he was telling me that he has never been in a long term/ serious relationship with a girl because he is afraid that he will get heart broken because everybody cheats and that sort of stuff.

This really bothered me because we live in a world where we paint people with the same brush, the reality is people are not the same as much as there are people who do not value monogamy there are still some who do and you cannot deny yourself a chance at sharing your life and your love with someone because of fear. It reminded me of when i was younger i was afraid of rejection because my father had left me and the thought of having a boyfriend leave me gave me major anxiety until one day a boy actually left me. I was devastated it took me exactly 2 years to get over a relationship that lasted only 2months (ridiculous i know) because i became a slave to my fear which made me a very vulnerable and naive person. It took time and maturity to realize that it doesn't matter who leaves my life, what matters is that i gave it my all and that what is meant for me will be for me and what is not will not be and that whatever happens is not always a reflection of what you did but who the other person is and as weird as this may sound i was happy that i went through it because when you are young sometimes you think that bad things only happen to other people and not you, so a slap of reality taught me that bad experiences happen so that we can appreciate the good and help us become better versions of ourselves. 

So i say this to say that don't let the greatest moments of your life pass you by because you are afraid, its like being afraid to get up, go out and live because you are afraid something bad will happen to you, who wants to live like that so go on and get your life, fall in love, go crazy or do what feels right for you, we have only this one life so don't waste it on fear...XO

Back at it

Hey guys so I'm back with a new post, i have been taking a little break well actually i was in Botswana and i was pretty much giving all my attention to other things and people. Im back here in Toronto been here about a week now and it has been a busy ever since I've been here my mother got married and i was busy with maid of honour duties so i didn't have much time to blog and i had to find inspiration to get back into the swing of things. 

This outfit I have on was inspired by these jeans i got on the current topshop sale and the are the washed black Joni which are ripped at the knee, now i have black jeans ripped t the knee  i got from Zara i just find Zara jeans challenging for me they don't fit the way i like jeans to fit me. 

I'm currently in the process of decluttering my closet, there are so many things i don't wear i trying to only buy or keep things that i will for sure wear and that i need. I have been watching videos on five piece french closet they are really helpful and have given me the courage to finally purge.

I went to get my hair done yesterday and I'm happy to be taking a break from doing it myself. I was browsing through my old pictures this afternoon and I found a picture from a year and a half ago of my locs and I'm so happy for the new growth I've had. Il be honest locs take patience and conviction because you miss doing other things with your hair even something as simple as combing.. MAKE-UP WISH LIST

Hey guys, i feel like its been a while since I've posted and its because one. I'm still enjoying people around me since i haven't seen them in such a long time and two. because my darling photographer (my little sister) is not here so its almost impossible to take pictures for the blog. So whenever i don't have pictures to post i go to my trusted mood-boards/collage so that i have something to put up. I'l be honest i quiet enjoy creating the mood-boards it took time to learn how to create them and ever since i've learnt i have been hooked. Today's post is inspired by an  upcoming wedding that il be a bridesmaid on and I'm really excited so i wanted to try all new makeup for the wedding and these are some of the products I'm dying to get my hands on. Now a little disclaimer I'm not a makeup artist or expert in any way i just like playing with makeup sometimes. With makeup or anything i put on my face i do a lot of research because i have very sensitive skin and one wrong product, I break out into a million hives.

I am a highlighter junkie i love how it just gives you a radiant glow that looks like its from within, this quad from ABH is a steal for $52 and I'm sure it will last a very long time can't wait to give it a try.
Matte liquid lipstick is Candy K by Kylie Cosmetics,to be honest i didn't really care much about these liquid lipsticks until a friend of mine bought one and i tried it. The formula is amazing it doesn't over dry the lips and it smells yummy, I can't wait to get my hands on it, this one and True Brown K. They are always sold out so you can check out Kylie Jenner's Instagram page to see when they restock.
This L'oreal Telescopic mascara is the bomb dot com i have seen so many you-tubers rave about it but i never believed the hype until i tried my aunt's a few days ago and i can safely say its my new favourite drugstore mascara, it knocks my covergirl lash bloom out of the park. You can get it at Walmart for about $11 or at Foschini and Edgars here in Botswana (not sure how much it retails for here).
PS I currently have Chris Brown Graffiti(deluxe edition) album on replay because i love every song he has ever made and he is awesome and talented lol (totally fanning out)... XO

MONDAY BLUES

Hey y'all, i have a cute and short outfit of the day (OOTD) idea that i would love to rock and its all inspired by the colour blue. you know how people talk about the Monday blues i thought it would be fun to make that the the theme of this post. this gorgeous denim-like dress is from Zara it has a cute cutout detail at the back and its a little asymmetric at the bottom which is perfect for me because I'm shorter it will accentuate my legs. Id pair this dress with a black pair of sandals to contrast the blue of the bag and dress. I love silver accessories with this look, along with the watch id throw in silver hooped earrings and some simple rings. Finally, a retro red lip would give this look a kick to make it more fierce or to simmer it down just have on a nude lip and makeup.

TRAVEL ESSENTIALS

Hey guys, so i decided to post some of my favourite things to carry while travelling. Every year i go to Botswana so this made sense since i travel so frequent. Im currently blogging from the Netherlands, Amsterdam well by the time this blog post goes up il be in Botswana so without further ado here they are

1. Tech stuff

i have my laptop because i wanted to blog while waiting for my connection which I'm doing right now lol, i also have my point and shoot camera (similar), cellphone my watch because I'm obsessed with knowing time especially when I'm flying. Lastly i have headphones to listen to music and side not i bought music from iTunes for the first time which I'm jamming to right now.

2. Toiletries

Ok lets start from left to right, I have this hydrating mask that i may or may not use, i got this because my skin gets really dehydrated during the winter and when I'm travelling but I'm scared to use it because i have very sensitive skin but il let y'all know how it was if i decide to use it. Next is my underage cream which i love i have a small review on it on this post, then i have my lip moisturizers at the top, vaseline, EOS lip balm and Nyx butter gloss in Tiramisu. i also have my travel size toothpaste and mouthwash(forgot to include my tooth brush but its also essential and get a case/cover for it). i also have my hand sanitizer because I'm a bit of a germaphobe, also my hand cream because ashy hands are not cute, mints and lastly nasal spray because my allergies go crazy especially during bed time and tissues. Oh forgot to mention the small weird whitish tube has a sample of origins clay mask I got from Sephora. 

3. Snacks
I don't really like to eat in the airplane because the food is just gross to me so i got a few snacks but let me tell you the Fritos did not make it into the plane because i ate them on the way to the airport because they are the best thing since sliced bread. So i just have these peace slices from dollar rama and gum
